Check here to see our current goals & initiatives!

Outreach
  • Development of new Board members and recruitment of persons with specific pertinent professional expertise who will serve as consultants.
  • Lobbying both city and state elected officials to promote fair transition of The Senator Theatre to a community-scaled community arts/performance/movie center.
  • Regular contact with Senator Joan Carter Conway, who is intervening in the process at the State and City level.
  • Donation collection & payment of some of the Senator's operational costs, in order to keep the lights turned on for continuing fundraising events at the theatre.
  • Coordinate activities with the Senator Management team
  • Sent a letter to the Baltimore Heritage, Inc. expressing our concerns over Baltimore City's C.H.A.P. proposals that would place restrictions upon the interior spaces of The Senator Theatre.

Administration

  • Developed SCT Board organizational documents and procedures
  • Filed application for non-profit status & paid associated fees (This allows us to proceed as a non-profit organization)
  • Opened, operating & maintaining bank and Paypal accounts to receive donations
  • Establish priorities & protocol for SCT fund disbursement from said accounts

Communication

  • Monitor communications received from the SCT P.O. Box and e-email address
  • Communicate regularly with Tom Harris and Laura Perkins as liaisons to the 'Friends of" internet community
  • Communicate regularly with Gayle Grove, Tom Kiefaber and Sean Brescia to keep communication with other Friends and The Senator Management more fluid
  • Established weekly Informational Meetings currently scheduled for Thursdays, 5:30 - 6:30pm.
Locations will be announced prior to each meeting (SCT Board attend regularly and members of the "Friends" groups and Senator Management Team attend as they are able. Interested parties/individuals are welcome to attend, however, we ask that you inform us in advance so that we can plan for an appropriate sized meeting space and add you to the e-mail distribution list to receive the weekly reminder with that week's meeting location).

Volunteerism
  • We welcome and thank those who have expressed an interest in volunteering their time/services/skills.
  • For mid-term fundraising, SCT members are planning some events in the coming months, and will definitely call for volunteers (see below).

Short-term Fundraising

  • SCT members are focusing on assisting & supporting The Senator Management's short-term for-profit fundraising efforts, volunteering with the sales of The Senator collectibles & promoting those events at the theatre.
  • Paypal donations are accepted to allow The Senator Management short-term operations

Mid-term Fundraising

  • Planning a series of fundraising events, which continue to demonstrate the uses of the theatre as a community-based multi-purpose venue. These events are expected to take place in the immediate months.

Long-term Fundraising

  • Compiling grant/loan opportunities for non-profit community-based multi-purpose venue after new ownership
  • Secured the pro bono services of a first-rate team to do a feasibility study, which is a necessary precursor to the fundraising from major donors which lies ahead.
